Experience
When I was in high school I worked during the summer as a part-time receptionist at a seasonal medical office. One of the other receptionists was studying to take her LSAT and kept some of her preparation books in the desk. I was bored one day and decided to look through them. Before I knew it, I was doing the Logical Reasoning questions for fun anytime there was a lull in patients. I truly enjoy taking standardized tests and have done well on the SAT (Verbal: 610, Math: 780), GRE (Verbal: 720, Quantitative: 780, Analytical: 800) and LSAT (169). I am a certified teacher in New Jersey and I currently serve as the Math Specialist at a small independent school. I have also worked in New Jersey as an in-home tutor for over ten years for middle- and high-school age children. Since I enjoy taking standardized tests, I started by working with students to improve their SAT scores. Over the past seven years, I expanded to working with students who needed a little more help with various school subjects or help preparing for midterm and final exams. Ultimately, I teach and tutor because I love to learn. In fact, I earned my Master of Science in Mathematics Education in 2011 and am currently pursuing a Supervisor's Certificate. During tutoring sessions I work to motivate the students to become life-long learners also. I believe that excitement is contagious and many of the students that I have taught and tutored have improved both their understanding and their scores or grades. I typically tutor in Monmouth County (Marlboro, Rumson, Holmdel, Colts Neck, Wall) and Ocean County (Toms River, Lavallette, Mantoloking) and am happy to provide references. I commute almost 3 hours a day for work so Thursday evenings and Sundays are best. However, depending n need and availability I sometimes may be able to do other days, especially Saturday.
