As a special educator and parent of 3 children, one who is diagnosed with dyslexia, I have learned that children have different strengths and interests. As a result of my professional and personal experience, I believe that learning differences do not always fit the model of a traditional curriculum. Some children like my own, benefit from a multisensory approach to learning. As a tutor, I have worked with children using Barton Reading and Spelling, an Orton Gillingham based curriculum that assists children with difficulties with phonemic awareness. It is an intensive one on one curriculum that will provide the necessary skills to be a successful reader and speller. Resume and references are available.
